Tattooing Your Back

By Kenneth Orr

Having tattoos done on the back has become very popular. Women often choose to have one done on their lower backs. This has got nothing to do with self-expression. Instead this area is chosen for its sex appeal.

It is not a bad choice to have a tattoo done and in fact both men and women choose it. The lower neck region is also a popular choice. Some really brave souls even have tattoos done that cover the entire back and can be attractive murals and floral designs. Alternatively skulls and blood are common and irrespective of the design it is the individual's choice.

Back tattoos are interesting because the wearer seldom sees the tattoo - they might be meant for others to view at the beach! Or, the wearer wants a back tattoo for personal reasons, like the tattoo is very large and needs lots of space.

The back can be a wonderful canvas for ink artwork, whether large or small. So, what do you need to know when considering a back tattoo? Just like any other tattoo, anywhere on your body, you need to make sure that you'll be happy with it for a long time to come.

A tattoo on the back requires just as much after care as any other. Therefore the fact that you cannot see it does not mean you can disregard it. The health of your skin is on the line.

You can't have the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality just because it's your back. All tattoos need special care while healing and special care to keep them looking great for years.

There are those who insist that back tattoos are rather painful but then no tattoo is ever going to be painless. Depending upon where the tattoo is done you will feel either more or less pain.

Originality is a big deal when women are deciding to have a tattoo done on their backs. You need to let your own unique personality shine through so choose a design you like. You do not have to follow the trends and have a semi-tribal or semi-ornate tattoo done just because those are the styles that appeal to the majority.

Also it is important to remember that over time your body will undergo changes that will affect the look of the tattoo. You might have seen the comic skit done on Saturday Night Live that pertained to women who get tattoos on their lower backs.

Over the years, the tattoo ends up looking quite misshapen and not terribly attractive due to the effects of time and the changes we're all subject to as we get older. It's not that you shouldn't get one - just be aware of the fact that you will change physically and your tattoos have no choice but to go along for the ride.

Tips Before Getting A Tattoo

By Rapid Blaze

Everybody goes through some form of deliberation before getting a tattoo. This is because this is sort of a big step and therefore, the individual has to think carefully whether they really want a tattoo before getting it. There are people who go ahead and get a tattoo and later come to regret the entire thing. Tattoo removal is much more difficult than acquiring one and therefore, some form of keen contemplation should be done in order to avoid this whole process called tattoo removal.

Roughly put, a tattoo is like a wound. A wound needs to be cared for so that it may heal. Exposing a wound to harsh conditions will cause it to get worse. Usually, your tattoo artist will give you adequate information on how to do this. You are required to follow all their guidelines so as to provide an environment where your tattoo will heal as quickly and healthily as possible. There are various steps to take when caring for your tattoo which we will explain shortly, but before that individuals should be aware that neglecting your tattoo could be dangerous on your skin and health.

In the worst case scenario like the appearance of pus where the tattoo is located, swelling, pain and redness; you should contact your doctor for treatment. However, to ensure your tattoo does not develop complications these tips could be of great help. It is important to cover your tattoo with some form a clean bandage. This will keep it guarded against infections. Some scabs are likely to form on the tattooed area and therefore, do not pick them or touch. This may make the whole thing worse.

The whole procedure can be risky if not well contemplated but very safe if all the precautions are considered. Therefore, the individual should be aware of all the contingencies. After this is accomplished, they should also look keenly at their reason for getting the tattoo. If peer pressure is one of the reasons, of which it mainly is, they should try to reconsider or at least get another plausible reason to back up this unfounded reason. This is due to the fact that many things people do due to peer pressure end up top on their list of regrets later.

Before having a laser surgery to remove the tattoo, consider covering up the tattoo with other tattoos. However, if your problem is with tattoos and not the particular tattoo, laser surgery would be the best option for you. The major disadvantage of this form of tattoo removal is the cost of the procedure. This is also varies with the number or size of the tattoos. Removal of a full body will cost much more than it would to remove a single tattoo.

Though the tattoo artist will probably explain this to you before beginning, it is important to avoid surprises during the procedure. The possibility of bleeding a bit exists and this should not come as a surprise to you. Taking all this into account, it is also important to know that a tattoo is more of a wound than anything else, at least when it's new.

It can be an avenue, as a result, where you can contract diseases. Caution should be exercised in light of this aspect. The other thing in regard to a tattoo being a wound is that it should be adequately cared for. Therefore, techniques to care for tattoos should be put to consideration. Your tattoo artist will also give you information regarding this. The last thing you should consider is any medical conditions you may be having that may render getting a tattoo a big risk. If these exist consult your doctor for information on whether getting a tattoo is safe. These conditions could be skin or heart conditions and even allergies.
